German based Deutz-Fahr was formed in 1968 with the merger of the two companies, Fahr dating back to 1870 and Deutz to 1864. Both built tractors, although Fahr also produced a wide range of farm implements while Deutz was a specialist in diesel engine manufacture. The combined Deutz-Fahr produced a wide range of tractors, combine harvesters and forage equipment. In 1995 it was bought by the SLH group from Italy, then becoming Same Deutz-Fahr.
